All has been quiet on the blog for some time now. The reason, we’ve been traveling, a lot. Now that we’re finally back and settled in at home, I figured I would do a few days of rounding up our trips, including a very special day to someone in our family that you may not be familiar with. You’ll just have to wait for that.
The first of our trips took us out to Blue Georgia, a place we have gone for the past few years just to get away. Our dear friends Erica and Ken join up with us, and we kick back and enjoy the scenery and fresh mountain air. Of course, if you know us, then you know that the first year we went to Blue Ridge we had a near death experience while canoeing down a river. Anyway, this is really why we go…

It’s a beautiful view as the morning fog rolls in. It’s quiet and calm, and a place to completely unwind from the day to day grind/ Each morning we’d get up, go for a walk, drink some coffee outside and just unplug. It felt nice. We also were able to fit in a few adventures while we were there. First on our list of non life threatening things to do, head over to Uncle Shucks Corn Maze, which features a maze with two paths, a pumpkin patch and a goat farm.

The maze was a lot of fun, although they did give you a map at the beginning, so you just had to keep track of where you were. All in all, not difficult, but really a lot of fun on a nice sunny day.

After a fun day in Uncle Shucks maze, we picked up two pumpkins (although one was completely rotten) and headed home for an outdoor fire on our porch, and some carving. Something about carving a pumpkin in the mountains is pretty cathartic.

The next day we got up and headed into downtown Blue Ridge, which is a small town that is approximately three blocks in length. We wanted to get there nice and early, because we heard there was going to be a “puppy parade,” and that sounded too awesome to pass up. Not only were there dogs in the parade, but also pigs and llamas…in ties.

After seeing some of the cutest puppies in the world (see photo above), we headed over to Mercier’s Orchard, an enormous apple orchard where you can pick (and eat) your own apples. This was probably the highlight of the trip. Never have I pulled an apple straight off a tree that tasted so delicious. They also had warm baked pies that were out of this world. The crust was so flaky and delicious that I could have eaten a dozen easily.

We concluded our evening with a variety of mixed drinks, time with our favorite furry ottoman aptly named “fart bear,” and a few rocking sets of Rock Band. It’s what we do people, it’s what we do.

If you are ever looking for one fantastic vacation, a place to get away from it all, and enjoy some amazing views, I would HIGHLY suggest Blue Ridge Georgia. The people are wonderful (umm, Fezziwigs), the stores are filled with bear everything (the Bear Store), the food is great (check out the Blue Ridge Brewery) and it will bring out the best in you. I do promise.

We just recently bought our first home, and we decided to share our story of our adventures with you. The ups and downs of home ownership, and all the fun we'll have in between. Ignore the typos and just have fun, that's what we're here for.
